It’s about time I do another one…

So another month has gone by and I’m still keeping busy. Luckly, right now the combination of 2 feet of snow and the holidays has given me some time to be lazy, but it seems like it is going by too fast.

Since I’m at my internship now, I’ll start with that. Things around here are going great. The projects are slowly getting bigger for me, but far from being more than I can handle in the time I have. I created a logo for a children’s muscian and now I’m going to be working on his new website. It’s the first one I get to do from scratch, so this will be great. It seems like up until this point, all the work I’ve been doing is way too easy and it’s given me a feeling like I’m missing something. I’d like to think that the work I’m doing is fantastic, but it seems too simple to be right.

School is pretty boring. Quark is perhaps the most… inane program I’ve had to learn. The functions that we are learning from it seem really ridiculous. We spent a week learning how to change the contrast and color of images in quark, which doesn’t make sense to me because as a graphics major I can’t help but wonder why I wouldn’t do it in photoshop to begin with. At least it isn’t as bad as some of the classes I’ve taken, which have no bearing on my career path at all.

Work is dumb, no surprise there. They keep giving me a bad schedule and I keep dealing with it. Every other week they have my hours cut down to 1 or 2 days a week, then a full schedule the next. It sucks not working for a week, then being way too busy the next. It seems like they finally have figured out my availability, though. It’s about time.

Life is… pretty bitchin’. Christmas was great. I got a new digital camera that I have already been putting to good use, among some other great things. I’ve had about 5 different car repairs in the last 10 weeks, and if this pace keeps up, I’m due for another one this week. Here’s for praying that I don’t have to take the last of my money for car repairs. It seems like everytime I get back on my feet financially, some dumb crap like this comes along and kicks me right back down. I gotta take it one day at a time, but if the trend keeps up, I doubt I’ll be able to do that.

As I mentioned earlier, we have about 2 feet of snow outside our doors right now. Wednesday morning I awoke to about 4 inches of it, and it continued until the next morning. I didn’t believe the people that were saying we were going to get more than a foot on Tuesday. Guess I shouldn’t have laughed so soon. The snow made for a big mess Wednesday and Thursday, and has managed to shut a lot of business down up until today, it seems. It seems like we will be seeing the mountains of shoveled snow 2 weeks from now.

But for now I’m out. Maybe you’ll hear from me again in less than a month. ;)

See ya.
