What a great weekend!!
No school tomorrow! Yay!
I don’t know why, really, but Cincinnati State has off for Columbus day, of all days. We get a whopping week vacation for Christmas but they are more than happy to give us Columbus day off. Oh well. I’m more than happy to reap the benefits because Monday is my long day… and now I don’t have a long day this week
I hope to get a lot done tomorrow. I know I have some homework to do before Tuesday. I got tons of work to do in design because I didn’t really “know” that I had to have some sketches for my final project in design last Friday. I put ‘know’ in quotation marks because I wasn’t in class for the lecture about our final project. So I really have no idea as to what is going on besides what I’ve read on the assignment sheet. I just happened to look at the Syllabus last week and notice that part of the final project was due… but I only had time to do part of that. I did the part that mattered for Friday. So I gotta sit down and think about the rest of that and get something solid, because I’m behind. Then I have to work on the CD Album project for design, too.
As far as Illustrator… well… I haven’t been moving nearly at the same pace I did last weekend. I’ve slowed down because the parts I have left to do are somewhat frustrating, because they require so much detail to prevent the entire thing from looking fake. It’s safe to say that on my picture, Michelle’s nose is the hardest part, mainly the bridge of the nose. I’ve got both nostrils done and her left side of the bridge.
I have a lot of work done on the lips, but they haven’t been given the attention the nose has, and they make everything look pretty fake.
Check the Obligitory Progress Picture
I was hoping to be able to send a print of this to Michelle Branch to get it autographed, because it would be awesome to have artwork I did with her autograph on it on my wall… but I was looking around about sending it to her and they requested that you don’t send something to be autographed. I’m going to try emailing them and seeing if there is anything I can do.
Well then… what else…
My mom and I finished painting the dining room. We had some troubles at first, because the way we were supposed to put the paint on wasn’t working right… but we figured out another way. It doesn’t look exactly like it was planned to, but it looks pretty good. I’ll take some pictures tomorrow, perhaps. It started out looking kinda sissy-like, and I thought that it looked okay, but because of the whole sissy thing I didn’t personally like it. It worked out because the 3rd layer of paint got really dark as it dried. Basically, it has kind of a carnation colored base layer that can barely be seen through a cornflowerish blue that looks like it was applied by being rubbed on with a towel (basically, it was.) That sounds kinda ghetto, but it’s not. It looks good. Then after dinner my mom gave me forty dollars for helping her. I didn’t want her to pay me. I had fun doing it, and now she doesn’t have the privledge of saying I don’t do anything around the house
But oh well. I guess I get to buy myself a little something or other now. Any suggestions?
Last night… was absolutely awesome. You know, just thinking about what to type, I really don’t know where to start, so I’ll just go in order.
I got home from work, which was a typical Saturday (Halfway between fun busy and stupid busy, as described in the previous entry.) and of course Mary just stressed the whole day… anyway, I got home from work and Andy Fleming IMed me asking if I wanted to go the WSU hockey game. So I talked to Mike and we both decided to go. One of Andy’s roommates in on the team, so he was gonna go, and admission was free. I was hoping for something to do all day while I was at work, and that was great idea.
I got a shower, went to Mike’s, then we went to Andy’s around. We got to his place at about 5, hung around there for about 15-20 minutes, then went to the WSU softball game. Kristin wanted Mike to stop by to sit with her or something, and that was plenty fine because the hockey game didn’t start until 8. After the softball game, we went to Steak N’ Shake. I love that SnS, it’s the only good one left. I think our waitress thought I was cute. Or maybe I should stop listening to Mike.
So, we ate, we talked, the food was good, then we went to the Nutter Center. I started remembering what it was like to be at WSU and I felt kinda down because I loved living up there. I just wish I had done more and not had been kinda lonely because of it. I’m happy that I’m doing well at CState, but I can’t help but think about how much fun I’d be having at WSU. *sigh*
So yeah.. hockey. The game was awesome. The Raiders were facing EKU, and I was told the Raiders won the game against them the night before 10-4. It started out kinda rough, EKU got 3 goals in the first period, and WSU only had one. In the final couple minutes of the first, the Goalie for EKU got a roughing call. It’s pretty rare for goalies to get penalties. With about 5 seconds left, the Goalie got another penalty, this time for blatently hitting a WSU player in the head and throwing him down… after a play. He got a 5 minute major (for those who don’t know, that means he’s in the penalty box for 5 minutes, and nothing will get him out early.) When he got to the box, he threw his stick and gloves down. He was a real hot-head. That netted him a 10 minute game misconduct, which basically meant he would spend the second period in the box, then stay in the locker room for the third. Hahha. HAHAHA.
The funniest part came when the second period started, with 4:56 left in the penalty for the goalie. WSU managed 4 goals in that time, putting the score at 5-3. The rest of the game was pretty awesome because the crowd kept getting more and more pumped… all 80 or so of them.
Long story short… the final score was 6-4, WSU with the win. EKU was booed off the ice.
At the end of the second period, some guy was being obnxious to the EKU bench and got arrested, but mostly because he resisted and fought when the officer sitting behind him told him to stop. That was pretty funny because the 50 year old officer wrestled him to the ground. He got beat by an old man. That’s a pretty lame way to get yourself arrested.
Afterwords, the three of us went back to Mike’s and played some Smash Brothers Melee. Me and Mike had a really good bout after we finished off Andy and the CPU. we were both on our last lives, and he manged to send me flying
It’s cool though, because we both know that we are so awesome at that game.
Well, I’m sure that I could find some other things to write about, but that’s already more than most people care to read for only a weekend’s worth, so, adieu.
