About Me

My name is Brian Fields and I’m twenty-something years old. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio.

In the words of Bill Cosby: "I started out as a child…". My childhood was the typical suburban one. I spent my time watching cartoons, playing with friends, looking for excitement whereever I could and generally being a kid. And to be honest, nothing has changed since then. I still turn on cartoons while doing work late at night and I still have my child-like sense of amusement and value. I’m a pretty simple person and that’s how I like it.

I’ve lived in Ohio my whole life. It’s not a bad place to live at all, but then again I’m not the most experienced in living in places outside of Ohio. For once I’d love to just go on a trip around the country and around the globe, take some time and see the wonderful things the world has to offer. But it’s fair to say that I’m content with the life I live.

I’m a college graduate with an Associates Degree of Applied Science in Computer Graphics from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. It’s a small college that isn’t as notable as I’d like, but luckly for me, I’m in one of the few fields where what you learn is more important than where you have learned it. Most of what I can do with graphics is self-taught, but school gave me the forum for projects to help build those skills and challenge myself to do new things.

I like to spend most of my time outside of work and school playing video games, surfing the internet, watching movies or just hanging out with friends, but as we all know time outside of work usually gets eaten up by the crazy things us "adults" have to do. So dare I say that I keep pretty busy in life and try not to waste a second doing nothing in my little bit of free time.

About This Site…

This website is my personal home on the internet. I originally opened the site in early 2001 as a website that some friends and I were going to run. Interest in keeping up with that soon died off as people started going off to college and.. well.. not caring.

So in late 2002, I trashed what remained of the site and opened my own personal page for whatever reason I wanted to use it for. I kept the forums intact until July of 2007 so that all of the people who used to visit can still post messages to each other, though. However, at the beginning of August some random ass wipe took it upon themselves to hack the site and delete my entire database. Starting it all over just didn’t seem worth the effort, so I just deleted them in their entirety and decided to go on with life.

Since 1998 or so, I had a website of my own, first hosted on a free server, then a subdomain when I opened up the original website, and now this. The site has gone through many looks and changes and none of them, in my opinion, have ever been a step back in terms of design.

All in all, I really do whatever I feel like doing on my site. There are some people in my field who think you should have 2 or 3 different sites for all your different sides (personal/professional/whatever) but I think that’s dumb. Nobody in their right mind should think that you aren’t allowed to have a life outside of work, and I’m not afraid to show what mine is like.

As far as this revision of the site, I got the idea when I first made the star logo in the upper-left. It was actually designed for a client at an internship, but he chose another logo over this one. I fell in love with it the second I made it, so I decided a month or so later that I was going to use it. The second I started thinking about how to implement it in a site, I thought of using clouds. The actual layout of the site took longer, but in the end my brain and the HTML met up. It’s gone through some revisions in the exact look, but it’s been this general idea for a while. This is probably the longest I’ve kept one site design.
